Rising with the sun
I prepare for a journey,
to travel within.

An empty city
How long has it been since last
I heard the birds sing?

Winters frozen mist
Surrounds every branch and leaf
The forest’s soft glow

A forgotten deal
Long after we are all gone,
the earth will remain

Following the sound
A daytime just as haunted
Shadows of what’s real

A quiet snowfall
Drifting down, the silent tears
Winters gentle kiss

Sleep falls upon me
Heavy and thick it descends
Like fog on the fields

Veiled in thick white
the sun peers sleepily through
A winter morning

Leaves on the cold ground
Golden drops hidden in white
Frozen where they fell

The soft spring sunshine
seems so many years ago
Winter settles in
